Evaluation and application of the CROPGRO- Soybean simulation model in a Vertic Inceptisol
نویسندگان
چکیده
Crop simulation models are valuable research tools in agricultural decision making. In order to increase its general applicability, models need to be evaluated in diverse conditions. To achieve this, CROPGRO-Soybean model was evaluated on Vertic Inceptisols in a climatically variable semi-arid tropical condition. The model predicted reasonably the temporal changes in leaf area index, biomass and grain yield. The model was used to develop yield± evapotranspiration (ET) relationship, and to assess the in ̄uence of soil water-storage capacity on yield. Yield was linearly related to ET and was reduced non-linearly as soil depth decreased. The yield reduction was minimal when depth decreased from 90 to 67 cm but severe reduction occurred when depth decreased below 45 cm. There exists a threshold soil depth (37 cm), below which crop productivity in Vertic Inceptisols cannot be sustained, even in good rainfall years. There is an urgent need to develop sustainable natural resource management technology to prevent further degradation of Vertic Inceptisol. CROPGRO-Soybean model can be successfully used as a research tool to evaluate the risks associated in adapting such technologies. # 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.

Modelling potassium uptake by wheat
A model has been used to simulate potassium (K) uptake by wheat in a pot culture experiment. Three soils from India, namely Alfisol, Inceptisol and Vertisol, were differentially K exhausted by Sudan grass (Surghum vulgare var. Sudanensis) for a period of 280 days and were used to simulate potassium uptake by wheat (Triticum aestivum) and also to predict the amounts of K released or fixed during...

Atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration [CO2] will increase in the future and will affect global climate and ecosystem productivity. Crop models used in past assessments of climate change effect on ecosystem productivity have not been adequately tested for the ability to simulate ecosystem responses to [CO2]. Our objective was to evaluate the ability of the default CROPGRO–Soybean model to pre...
متن کاملDetermination of adaptive responses of peanut genotypes and patterns of genotype × location interaction using the CSM-CROPGRO-Peanut model
The adaptive responses of crop genotypes and patterns of genotype x location (G x L) interaction are important to crop improvement as they are the basis for selection for specific adaptation and for elucidation of the causes of G x L interaction. Their legitimate assessment, however, requires yield data for the test genotypes for a large number of sites and over multiple years. Such data are se...

To determine the relationships between agronomic and physiological characteristics of soybean, 30 soybean genotypes in factorial experiment based on a randomized complete block design were planted in Sari of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources University (SANRU). Correlation coefficients between traits showed positive and significant correlation between the considered traits and grain y...
